The Georgia Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (GaRID) Mentorship Program was established in an effort to answer the ever increasing call for qualified sign language interpreters in the state of Georgia. 

The purpose of the GaRID Membership Program is to provide non-RID certified interpreters the opportunity to continue skill and competency development with the ultimate goal of earning national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).

Only current members of Georgia RID will be allowed to participate. 

The current program session will run (program on hold). Participants are required to meet at least twice a month during this period or a minimum or 4 hours per month. Mentors will be paid for their services, following a fee schedule set by the Georgia Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Board of Directors and the Mentorship Committee. Participating Mentees will pay a total of $250.00 for this Session.

The Program will also provide training for the participants. Mentors will have an opportunity to develop an Independent Study Plan for RID CEU’s. As well, a workshop will be provided related to mentoring/tutoring.
   
After the completion of the each Session, an evaluation will be given to participants. Based on suggestions given, adjustments will be made to improve the efficacy and success of the Session. The Committee is open to adaptations, suggestions and feedback.
