Georgia Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf

GaRID is the affiliate chapter in the state of Georgia of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), 
and is an organization established for, comprised of and sustained by sign language interpreters.

GaRID is calling recent grads, those not yet certified, and those who want to improve their interpreting to join the Mentorship Program. The Fall Session will begin on August 15th, 2014The deadline for applications for mentees and payment is August 10th, 2014. Check out the Mentorship Program tab to the left for more details. This is a call for mentors as well. You do have skills and experience to share. Think about giving back to the community.

As a primer, the Mentorship Program is hosting two workshops. For mentees, there is "Make It Your Own: Taking and Giving Direction in Your Mentorship" by Hijrah Hamid and Mallerie Shirley, presented Sunday, August 10th, 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm. 

For mentors, LaToya Childs is offering "How Many Hats Can You Fit on Your Head: The Various Roles of Mentoring", Saturday, August 16th, 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm. This is for any GaRID member who is interested in becoming a mentor for the Program, becoming a mentor in general, or is just curious about how to mentor. RID CEUs will be provided.
